U.S. DOT Deactivation Services

This website, operated by Hoffenmer provides professional assistance with the deactivation of U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) numbers and Motor Carrier (MC) numbers through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) systems.

Service Description

Our DOT deactivation service includes: review of your current DOT/MC status, preparation and submission of all required deactivation forms to FMCSA, verification of successful deactivation, and confirmation documentation. The client acknowledges that final approval and processing of deactivation requests is subject to FMCSA review and approval.

Processing Timeline

Standard deactivation requests are typically processed by FMCSA within 5-10 business days from the date of submission. However, processing times may vary based on FMCSA workload and individual case complexity. Hoffenmer cannot guarantee specific processing timeframes as final processing is conducted by federal agencies.

Client Responsibilities

The client must provide accurate and complete information regarding their DOT/MC authority, company operations, and contact details. The client is responsible for ensuring all outstanding FMCSA requirements (such as biennial updates, insurance filings, or safety audits) are resolved prior to deactivation. Failure to provide accurate information or resolve outstanding requirements may delay or prevent successful deactivation.

Verification and Identity

Identity verification may be required to process DOT deactivation requests, as mandated by federal security requirements. This may include verification through ID.me or other approved identity verification services. The client acknowledges that deactivation requests cannot be processed without proper identity verification when required by FMCSA regulations.

Reactivation

Once a DOT/MC number has been deactivated, reactivation may require filing a new application and payment of all applicable federal fees. Hoffenmer can assist with reactivation services if needed, subject to separate fees and processing requirements.

Fees and Payment

Service Fees

All service fees are clearly disclosed prior to processing and must be paid in full before submission of deactivation requests to FMCSA. Service fees are separate from any federal filing fees that may be required by FMCSA.

Refund Policy

All service fees are final once the deactivation request has been submitted to FMCSA. Refunds will be considered if requested within 48 hours of payment and the deactivation request has not yet been submitted to FMCSA. Refunds are not available once the application has been filed with federal agencies, as processing work has been performed.

Payment Methods

We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and electronic payments through secure payment processors. All payment information is processed through PCI-compliant secure systems.
